Amazon.com Product Description

The open, dynamic PMX 60 neckband headphones are the ideal choice for all portable audio sources. Their balanced sound image easily outdoes other mini headphones.
Sennheiser's lightweight, open-ear PMX60s are tailor-made for portable listening and specifically designed for rock and pop music, with a high maximum playback level (122 dB SPL), low distortion (under .5 percent), and a dedicated bass tube to heighten musical impact through additional low-frequency resonance. (Keep in mind that even though the headphones perform at loud levels, your ears will surely deteriorate through extended loud listening.) The PMX60s' comfy neckband design prevents the dreaded "headphone hair," and their three-foot cord grants extended freedom of movement.

"Great Sound, Excellent Value" 2010-02-05
By A. Ratner (Princeton, NJ)
I bought these headphones to replace another behind the neck pair from Sony, which I thought I had lost. The Sony headphones had a more comfortable fit, but the sound quality of the Sennhesier's is so superior that even after discovering that I had only misplaced the Sony's. I'm still using the Sennheiser's three times a week when I run. Great sound at all frequencies, with night tight bass. The headphones fit securely and are perfectly comfortable, just not quite as good as the Sony's. For the price, though, they can't be beat.

"Excellence at Low Cost" 2010-02-03
By Andrew Cooper (Mauna Kea, HI, USA)
I have a new favorite set of portable headphones! Beautiful, clear sound, rich bass, my favorite music sounds great. I never have liked earbuds, the engineering compromises of such a small earphone are simply too much. For lightweight and portable use I do prefer the behind the head style earphones for comfort. Much of my music is classical, new age and electronic, very demanding sounds when it comes to headphones, many just do not cut it. On the other hand I dislike spending a fortune on something that gets thrown in my bag every day, it is nice to find excellent headphones for the price.

"Only lasted about 2 months" 2010-02-02
By pearljam888 (Seattle, WA)
I heard good things about this brand but I was really disappointed with these. They stretched out really quickly so they wouldn't fit on my head very well. Then, after less than 2 months of use, the bass is totally shot. It's crackly and pretty much ruined. The $10 headphones I got at Radio Shack lasted a LOT longer than these. If you're looking for a good set of durable headphones, keep looking.

"Waste of money" 2010-01-12
By Greg
Don't believe the good reviews! These headsets are awful!!!!! There is no way to adjust the fit, and it would be a miracle if they fit you correctly. Absolutely the worst headsets I have ever owned, no reduction in background noise, I wore them one time on the subway and threw them out when I got home. I couldn't hear the music on my iPod because of all the background noise. No matter how much you turn up the volume they cannot compete with the ambient sound around you.

Don't waste your money and time and cheap out on these. Suck it up and spend a few more bucks and get a good set of earbuds like the ER6i.

"I guess I was expecting better..." 2010-01-09
By Wyatt Crabtree-Scott (Portland, Oregon)
I bought these so I could have a pair of lightweight headphones to wear when I go to class. My other pair are Skullcandy HESH's, and may have spoiled me!

I maybe was expecting better from these, and I was certainly disappointed when I discovered that they didn't sound as nice as similar Sony behind-the-neck models. The sound is tinny and weak. I admit that I have been used to wearing large bass-heavy cups for a long time, so comparing them isn't fair, but I just couldn't use these. Despite using the equalizer on my MP3 player (and music quality has nothing to do with it, I prefer lossless audio over MP3 when I can find it) I couldn't get enough bass out of these. The bass was lacking, the highs were scratchy and sharp, and the mids were just plain weak.

Also, something about the way these were shaped made them far more uncomfortable than the Sony wrap-around headphones. I've owned a half-dozen of the Sony headphones and they all sounded better and were more comfortable than these ones. I wanted to see if I could get better sound-quality and longevity out of a different brand, but it was a mistake.

Lastly, I think I was harassing people on the bus when I wore these because sound leaked out even at reasonable volume levels.

They did produce some loud sound though, and that's maybe enough for some listeners. If I had to choose between these and some stock iPod earbuds, I would DEFINITELY pick these, but as far as rating these on their own I'd have to say I'm still in the market for a better pair.

***UPDATE***

After a fairly long break-in period these turned out to sound a bit better than before. My girlfriend now uses them since her other pair broke and I got a pair of PMX200's (which sound much better, but are FAR more uncomfortable...I just can't win..)

When youM-^Rre running around in circles, you need comfort for your active lifestyle. Check out these Street Style« headphones from Sony. The headphones feature a behind-the-neck design and a no-slip design, so they will stay on your ears even when exercising, playing sports, or dancing. They also come with replacement earpads.
These Street Style headphones employ the comfortable and stable behind-the-neck design. They have a non-slip design, making them ideal for exercise or for a walk to the corner market. To encourage safe night-time activities, the MDR-G57Gs come with a reflective ear piece. They are also water-resistant, completing the necessary checklist for full-function sports headphones. The behind-the-neck style is also appropriate for urban and casual wear; remember that with this style you can wear a hat while wearing the headphones. The MDR-G57Gs were designed for extended wear, and, weighing in at under two ounces, you may indeed forget you are wearing headphones.

Sony has installed several technical features to the headphones to ensure a quality listening experience. The thirty millimeter drive units are large for portable headphones, and deliver deep bass, low distortion and a wide frequency response range (16 - 20,000 Hz). Sony's Acoustic Turbo circuit achieves high sonic output by utilizying sound chamber and duct technology. Ferrite magnets give the headphones solid energy at a minimal size and weight, while the oxygen-free copper cord provides high conductivity and minimum noise. The gold-plated stereo mini-plug makes sure that sound is transported fully and accurately. The gold-plated treatment also helps resist corrosion and supports the headphones' high conductivity and low noise. The five foot long, single-sided cord is plenty long for active pursuits. Replacement earpads are included.

"Decent but not my final solution for headphones" 2010-01-13
By Robert A. Gold Jr. (DC Metro)
These fit snugly and are reasonably comfortable for extended periods but the earpieces get sweaty and cumbersome during long workouts. I was reasonably impressed with the bass compared to the other 3 or 4 on-the-ear headphones in this price range I've tried. These are my backup pair when I can't find other headphones. For times when I don't need sports headphones, I'll probably use buds. For sports, the ones where the little speaker fits sideways into the ear seem to work better for me.

"Well Built, Good Sound Quality" 2009-12-17
By Plapper (Plapper, AZ)
Headphones appear to have been built with sturdy parts and construction. The wire feeding into the headphones have been reinforced at the speaker connection so that it doesn't come loose (which is what happened to my last pair of Sennheiser PMX60 Headphones after 2-years of regular use).

Sound quality is above average, but doesn't stand out from all the rest that would allow me to give it 5 stars. However, bass quality is crisp and has been able to play certain songs containing heavy bass without any of the crackling that I used to hear in prior headphones that cost twice as much.

Comfort: In the beginning, a bit tight around the ear. But the headphones seemed to have molded itself to my ear after about 4-5 uses. Now fits snug, with no chance of them slipping off. They wrap around the back of the neck, rather than the back of the head like most other headphones. This helps when you want to rest your head against a headrest on a plane.

Finally, the design of these headphones also placed some emphasis on style. Color combination (Grey with small orange reflector), along with it's "Street Style" is unique and stands out in a subtle way.

"An ok product" 2009-12-05
By pearljam888 (Seattle, WA)
I wear my headphones about 8 hours per day and am constantly taking them on and off. As a result, they only lasted about 2 years. The sound quality was great at first, but significantly declined after about a year. I've had to turn the volume up full blast to hear my podcasts. When I listened to music, the vocals were harder to hear than the music. Yes, the ears pinch a little bit at first, but they loosen up after a while and are actually really comfortable.

If you need a simple pair of behind-the-neck headphones for occasional use, these are great. If you need a more durable pair of headphones, keep looking.

"Great for running, Bad for lounging" 2009-12-02
By Leela (Oakdale, NY United States)
I bought these headphones to replace my old pair of behind-the-head headphones because the wire connection wore down. I read all the reviews and thought, "oh well, they look pretty good" but now that I have them, I dont think I would buy them again. I bought them mainly for the purpose of working out AND for when I'm doing school work sitting at the computer. I've worn them running and they are great for that because you can remove the pads to wash them --my face/ears do get sweaty-- and they don't move or bounce around at all and have reflectors which is really great for running outside. However, I use these more when I'm sitting at a desk. I can't wear them for too long because they hurt my head. I also wear glasses sometimes and they are impossible to wear with my glasses. I have to put the headphones on and THEN put my glasses over them and even then its just too much stuff behind my ear. And along with everyone else, they hurt. After wearing them for about an hour, I have to take them off.

Overall, great if you aren't wearing them for too long with the purpose of running; bad if wearing them for longer periods of time...but at least the sound quality is good.

"Great headphones, my favorite style" 2009-12-01
By Eric A. Kevitz (Virginia Beach, VA)
I don't like headphones messing up my spikey hair, so these headphones are perfect. You can run with them and not worry at all about them falling off. The sound quality is great and stay comfortable even after several hours of use. My head is on the small size for a male adult and they fit me great.

"Poorly constructed product, ok customer service.." 2010-01-24
By Jarrett T. Ellis (Richland, Mo)
I purchased these with the intent of using with my Ipod while I ran or played racquetball. As I soon found out, I couldn't even use them for daily non-active use. The first set that was sent to me didn't work at all. I plugged it in, and couldn't hear anything. The fit was poor and wouldn't stay on my head ( I wear 7 1/4" hat, very common size) Anyway, I was really disappointed and quickly contacted Arriva.

The customer service rep acknowledged the problem quickly and said it was an issue with the "early" models that they were aware of and they would send out a new set. So, The new set arrived, and worked only marginally better. The sound quality was very very poor (not even close to the stock headphones) and again, they didn't even come close to fitting my head(way to big).

Also, I was charged for the headphones they shipped me and for the shipping of the headphones. I contacted the company again and they said I would be credited for the price of the headphones if I shipped back the old ones *at my own cost*.
Anyway, I don't recommend either the product or the company.

"Ear Buds Won't Stay In." 2008-09-23
By Rob Prindle (Erie, PA United States)
These really look as though they'd help keep the ear buds from falling out - but it's actually quite the opposite - the silicone plugs are slick and the moment you begin to exercise and sweat a little they fall out.

"The photo of these says it all..." 2008-09-06
By Schlieko (Texas)
Look closely at the photo for this product... the headphones have no shape to them... Each side has a mind of it's own. Impossible to adjust for a proper fit... again, you can see this by just looking at the photo of the product...

The plastic around the ear is very uncomfortable. The headphone piece pops out of your ear. And if by some miracle, you do get them right... store them in a glass case... Drop them on the seat and they will lose what little shaping you achieved...

"So good, only a little getting used to!" 2008-07-23
By Lindsay Bluth (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
Maybe these look a little hokey or goofy upon first glance, but they're truly great headphones. These headphones should fit most everyone (I'd say 80% of people) unless they are exceptionally small or exceptionally large. The headphones are sent with 3 sets of rubber ear coverings, so they fit an ear canal of almost any size. Noise reduction is fair, but you pay for what you get (I didn't expect the same as I do from my $300 Bose Quiet Comforts, obviously).

What I loved about these was that the cord is in the back of your head! No more swinging cord in your face to get in the way of your cardio workouts on the treadmill, stepper, or elliptical. I often would get my swinging arms caught in the cords, and be frustrated. Also, the webbing is adjustable for an optimal fit. Noise reduction, great adjustable fit, and rear cord all make for an excellent, bang-for-your-buck product. I can't recommend them enough!

"Just don't stay put" 2007-10-02
By Charles Rutledge (Amesbury, MA USA)
I bought these hoping I might have finally found a pair of headphones that works well for running. Most fall out, don't handle sweat well, aren't comfortable, break quickly, often all four.

I read several reviews saying that it takes some time to get used to these, but that once you figured out how to get them to stay on they would be great. I've used them for about 10 runs now, and am giving up. I followed the instructions, re-read them several times, but I just cannot keep them on. They stay on for about 10 minutes, until I start sweating even a little. Then they pop right out. And once they start popping out, they keep popping out. By 15 minutes into my run I pretty much have to hold my hand to my head to get them to stay in.

On the plus side, for the time that they do stay in I find the sound to be fine, and the fit to be comfortable. If I could get them to stay on I think they'd be great. Just that one detail...

Some notes about usage so you can compare to your situation. I use these on a treadmill, generally running in the 7.5-8min/mi pace, so bouncing around a bit. Although it doesn't seem to be the bouncing that causes the problem, it's the sweating. Once I start sweating even a bit they just slide right off of my ears.

So these are going on the shelf, and back to my search for a good pair of running headphones...

"Not as good as I thought" 2010-01-02

These earphones have a poor design. They do not fit into my ears, and constantly falling out when training or running. I was looking for a more stable product, even when the price is cheap, the design did not work for me.

"Too bad, loved them while they lasted" 2009-12-15
By S. Mukherjee (Augusta, GA United States)
Ditto with the other reviewers. The right side of these headphones shorted out after 4 months of light use. It is a shame because I love the behind the head design and the fact that they are lightweight, but I will not buy another pair. Based on all of these reviews it looks like this is a design flaw.

"Poor Quality" 2009-12-05
By R. Cole (Sudbury, MA)
I have been a sucker for these headphones over the past three years. In that time I have owned five pair, each time hoping that the quality issue was just a fluke. Instead, each pair dies after about two months or roughly 30 runs. I run short distances (3-5 miles) every other day and have never put extraordinary pressure on the headphones. I notice however that the input plug quickly wears out causing the headset to short out. If the input plug lasts, the left or right headphone will die leaving you running in mono. I broke my last pair and will need to find a replacement that has some durability and better quality.

"Nike needs to work on durability" 2009-11-27
By K. Rahman
It worked great for about 4 months and then one side shorted out hence there is only sound in one ear. For this kind of money i expect the thing to last atleast a year or some where close to it.
They need to get their R&D teams back to fix what ever the error is as this needs improvement.

"Good sport headphones that do not last" 2009-11-14
By Kevin Reed (Seattle, WA USA)
I have owned two pairs of these headphones and was very happy with the overall performance. The first only lasted three months. At first I guessed I had mistreated them somehow so bought a second set which only lasted four months. I will not buy a third set.

I used them for running and they were both comfortable and had good sound. The cable emerging from the middle of the connecting band was especially nice. Unfortunately the cable is not up to the repetitive flexing that occurs during heavy exercise. It fails near the connection point with the connecting band. I run about 100 miles a month so they last for 300-400 miles. If you run less miles per month I suspect they will last longer in calendar days.

"Cheap, fast shipping, low quality" 2010-01-29
By Huang Dongxu (IL, USA)
This set of headphone is cheap. As a result doesn't have a good quality.
The construction is not good, giving a feeling of some very cheap plastic.
The sound quality is flat, not appealing for any kind of music.
It is loose. I don't understand how such a designed for sport headphone cannot stay on my ears firmly; it cannot fit into ears well either, 1/3 of the "head part" is out of ear.

However, for such a price, this headphone is ok. I just use it for working out at gym so I wouldn't tear up my good one.
The shipping is really good! It's free shipping and arrived within 2 days. Amazing!

"Sound is miserable. Meant only for big ears" 2010-01-28
By Santu (houston)
Before these head phones, I purchased Senneheiser PMX 80. Those sound very good and comfortable while running. But they are not when working out. So I wanted to try these headphones because of cheap price. I was eager to try these head phones. But when I put these on my ears, they are very lose. I think these are good for only larger ears. Then I tried them with my IPOD. Sound quality is horrible. These is no bass. The default headphones that came with ipod sound better.

"HURTFUL!" 2010-02-02
By S. Kangavari (L.A)
OUCH! Really, I don't know how many of the other people who have bought it on here can say that this thing just doesn't make their ears bleed because of the intense pressure on the ear. Ive had my whole family try this one, and none of them can stand the pressure. I got this for much cheaper, but even at the price I paid I think its a horrible product, so I really wouldn't pay full price for these.
I would really stay away there are other headphone out there that will stay on but also be comfortable, I just got these because they were cheap.
First time I used it, after about 30 minutes at the gym I had to leave because I left them on too long and it gave me a really bad headache from the pressure.
Sounds like I am repeating myself, but I am just really disappointed with this thing, I love this company but this is a bad product.

"Great for all workouts" 2010-02-01
By Tread (Laguna Niguel, CA)
I got these two months ago and they are fantastic. I use them on runs and at the gym.

Pros: They have great sound quality and are very comfortable. They are by far the best headphones I've ever owned for working out. They do not move out of place at all on a five mile run.

Cons: The only con is that the headphones move out of place if you do bench press or any other weightlifting exercise where your head lays against something. I knew this before I bought them and its just a Con of having a design like this.

I recommend these to anyone who needs a pair of headphones for working out or any other active activity. I chose these over the ear bud versions because I figured these would be better for running. People who only weight lift might like the ear bud version better but these are hard to beat.

Tried many types of earphone to run with, and these are the best. They never come out of my ears, they are comfortable, and best of all can clean them out with water.

"Very secure fit and good sound quality" 2010-01-31
By A. Fraser
These won't come off and are very durable. Also have very good sound quality IMO. The only problem I have with them is they hit my collar, and that can be annoying at times, especially when x-country skiing. Still, I like them a lot since they never come off. I wish they were expandable, though, so I could adjust them to my collar.
